Home Communication Elements
Elements

There are five elements of communication

1. Sender - the originator of the information to be passed

2. Message - the information to be passed

3. Channel - the medium through which the message is communicated

4. Receiver - the person for whom the message is intended

5. Feedback - the response of the receiver to the message

In fundraising communication, apart from the above, there are other elements and these are:

  • Statement of work
  • Statement of achievements
  • Success story

 Statement of work?

A brief (less than 15 words), clear and simple description of the organisation's work.

Statement of achievements

A list of the organisation’s major achievements. An achievement is

  • measurable and verifiable
  • something you’re proud of
  • an indication of one of your main activities
  • shows the impact of your work on people’s lives
    or their environment

People often describe Activities, instead of Achievements.

Success story

A success story is about a person, a family, a community or an aspect of the environment that has undergone a positive change because of your organisation’s work.
